Ms. Nichole Burchell 
Counselor: Last names A - L 

Ms. Burchell joined the Jim Thorpe Area High School guidance staff in December 2008. Previous to her joining JTASD,  Ms. Burchell was a Behavior Specialist Consultant and Mobile Therapist serving mostly children on the Autism Spectrum and their families. She completed her graduate internship at the Jim Thorpe Area High School during the 2006-2007 school year. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from East Stroudsburg University (2005) and a Masters of Science in Secondary School Counseling from the University of Scranton (2007). 

She is currently a member of the American School Counselors Association, American Counselor Association, Pennsylvania School Counselor Association and Carbon-Lehigh School Counselor Association.

She enjoys traveling, magazines, and music.

 

Mrs. Tricia Klotz

Mrs. Klotz joined the Jim Thorpe Area High School guidance staff in July 2013.

Duties include:
  • Maintaining student files and permanent records for grades 9 through 12.
  • Processing paperwork for new registrations; setting up files and permanent record cards; arranging student tours.
  • Processing withdrawals from high school; notifying departments; transferring records to new school.
  • Processing report cards and interim progress reports for grades 9 through 12.
  • Supplying college applications and information to students.
  • Providing scholarship information and applications to students.
  • Sending transcripts to colleges for current or former students.
  • Verifying graduation status information for employers or employment agencies.
  • Scheduling visits by college representatives and military services.
  • Providing information on SAT or ACT registration and instructions on completion of the registration packet.
  • Maintaining the guidance library; lending books to students; assisting students in locating college/scholarship/career information.
  • Coordinating College Night Program (held in September of each year).
  • Posting all guidance announcements on PowerSchool.
  • Posting information on the Career Center News bulletin boards regarding scholarships, college visitations, college open houses, college acceptances, Governor's School, jobs available to students, volunteer opportunities, etc.
  • Processing Carbon Career & Technical Institute applications.
  • Registering students for LCCC dual-enrollment courses; accepting tuition and textbook payments.
  • Providing information and forms to students to file NCAA (athletics in college) forms.
  • Sending out password information to parent and student for PowerSchool access.
  • Posting SAT, ACT, PSAT, and Advanced Placement testing information on permanent records and filing testing information in file.
