Dear 8th Grade Parents,
As we approach the end of the year and our 8th grade moving up ceremony we need your help. As in the past, Mrs. Warren has put together a video that included a farewell to 8th grade here at PKC. With COVID, we haven't had as many in-school activities and events as usual to gather these photo ops. This is where we need you. We need help with pictures from your child's time here at PK. Field Trips, Field Days, Assemblies, In-School Projects, Semi-Formal, Science Fair, TORCH rewards, anything you can think of that is a SCHOOL FUNCTION and that you have pictures from kindergarten throughout 8th grade.
If you can dig out those photos and upload a digital copy in our google drive we would greatly appreciate it. ALL PICTURES MUST BE FROM A SCHOOL FUNCTION and we will do our best to incorporate them into our project if we get enough photos. No pictures from outside activities will be used.

Thank you for any help you can give our kids.
Any questions, please reach out.

As of Friday, February 25, 2022, the CDC does not require wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public school districts. Masks are permitted to be worn on transportation and in the JTASD schools as a parental choice.

The Jim Thorpe Area School District will be on a virtual instruction day on Friday, February 25 due to the impending storm. A virtual instruction day counts as a day of school towards the 180 day requirement, and is live instruction, with attendance taken. Students should log into their online platforms (Seesaw, Google Classroom/Meet, Schoology) on their regularly scheduled class times. Student attendance is noted in the live Instruction classes and/or when they hand in their completed assignments on the next school day.

With the inclement weather predicted on Friday of this week, JTASD will be transitioning from FID Days to "Virtual Instruction Days" in the event bad weather hits the roadways of the Jim Thorpe Community. These "Virtual Instruction Days" provide an opportunity for both asynchronous (students completing assignments on their own) learning and synchronous (live teaching with the teacher) learning, whenever possible.
Please check the all call system for updates on weather related decisions later in the week.

Due to a utility odor permeating the Penn-Kidder Campus this morning, February 8, emergency personnel were called to the scene to investigate the source of the odor. The students and staff of the Penn-Kidder Campus were preparing to evacuate as a precautionary measure. The fire department has determined the source of the odor, and it has determined that the building is safe and no evacuation is needed. The district wants to thank the emergency responders for their quick actions, the staff and students for following the protocols they practiced, and to assure parents that there is no danger to their students. Staff and students will be resuming their normal school day. Thank you.

As per the revised district calendar, the Jim Thorpe Area School District will be open on February 7 as a normal school day. In addition, Friday, February 11 will be an early dismissal day, with parent-teacher conferences being held that afternoon. The high school will dismiss at 11:30AM, and the LBM and PKC schools will dismiss at 12:30PM.

The Quarter 2 report cards were sent electronically on Friday, February 4. Please check your email. To access the report card, please use your child's lunch/student number. Should you have issues accessing the report card or have questions concerning your child's grades, please contact the school office.

The Jim Thorpe Area School District will be on a flexible instruction day on Friday, February 4, 2022 due to the impending icy conditions. Students are expected to check with their teachers for lessons via their designated online learning platform (Seesaw/Google Classroom/Schoology). Assignments and lessons will be asynchronous and due upon the return to school on Monday.
There will be no district transportation. Please be safe on the roads.
